Youth Meeting , 11th October, 09

The following are details of the Youth meeting held on 11th October,09 at Kalyan Bhavan, Kolkata.

(1) An 'Anubhav Satra' was organised where several volunteers who attended the 7th Medical Camp held on 2nd and 3rd October, 09 met and shared the experiences with each other aswell as other volunteers who couldnt attend the camp.
The camp was very successful as around 1300 vanvasi patients were treated with free checkups and medicines in two days.

(2)  Details of Children's Day celebration were discussed. 
Date - 14th November,09. 
Location - 'Kesiari' area , around 20 kms from Kharagpur.
Target - Children studying in Kalyan Ashram's 'Shishu Shiksha Kendras' aged upto 8 yrs.
Duration - 1 day. Departure early morning and arrival by late evening by train from Howrah.
Program - 3 hrs including games, puzzles, activities, competitions for children.

(3) Diwali meet for Youth Volunteers on 24th October, 09 at 5p.m. at Kalyan Bhavan, Maniktala, Kolkata.

7th Medical Camp in Raigunj dist., West Bengal


These are pictures of the 7th Medical Camp held on 2nd and 3rd October in Raigunj and Harirampur blocks in North Dinajpur and South Dinajpur districts, respectively in West Bengal. The camp was very successful as around 1300 vanvasi patients were treated with free checkups and medicines in two days.

Highlights of the camp :

@ 6 doctors and 6 yoga teachers from Kolkata, Siliguri and Dinajpur participated in the two day camp. They were supported by
around 40 volunteers including 15 youths from Kolkata, Siliguri and Dinajpur. 100 local volunteers also participated.

@ Roughly 1300 vanvasi patients ( 754 on the 1st day and 540 on the 2nd day ) were provided with free medical checkups and medicines.

@ On spot blood grouping test and ECG was conducted on 2nd day, in Harirampur.

@ 12 cartons of medicines worth Rs. 2 lacs were distributed free of cost among the vanvasi, which were either purchased or donated by various contributors of the camp.

@ Around 500 patients suffering from chronic illness were provided with yoga and pranayam training from trainers trained at Ramdev Ji's ashram.

@ 212 patients with eye sight problems will be sent spectacles with appropriate power, free of cost.
