Highlights of 4th Education Camp in Purulia district on 20th & 21st Aug, 2011.

2 brand new computers installed at 2 hostels - 
on 20th Aug at Baghmundi Boys Hostel
on 21st Aug at Nivedita girls Hostel in Purulia.
Trip included a visit to Ram temple on top of Ayodhya hills.
Activities incl - computer installation & demo, raksha bandhan, craft - collage, intellectual games like - word maker & jumbled words, etc. 
Total 16 volunteers participated in our camp.

4th Education Camp, Purulia

Objective: To install two computers at two hostels in Purulia area, organise quiz and games sessions and raksha bandhan. Camps like these give the urban youth a chance to get a 1st hand experience of tribal life & an opportunity to make a change in their lives ! Travel itinerary: 20th August (Saturday) - Leave Howrah station at 6 am for Purulia by train. From Purulia station proceed by car to Bagmundi boys hostel. Night halt at Bagmundi boys hostel. Activities - Computer installation & interactive sessions with resident vanvasi boys - quiz, education, GK, computer, games, Raksha Bandhan etc. 21st August (Sunday) - Proceed to Kumari (girls) hostel, Purulia where another computer will be installed & similar activities as mentioned above will be conducted. Next, the team will visit Balrampur boys hostel, Purulia and finally board train for Howrah in afternoon from Purulia station. Expected arrival time at Howrah station is 9:15 pm. Silchar Hostel

Some pics of Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram's Boys Hostel in Silchar, Assam are given below. 26 vanvasi boys from from 3 districts - Karimganj, Cachar & Barak Valley reside in this Hostel.

Nagar Yatra - 2011

On 22nd, 23rd & 24th April, 2011 around 90 vanvasi boys studying at Purvanchal Kalyan Ashram's 9 Hostels across West Bengal visited Kolkata as a part of  the ' Nagar Yatra' program. In their 3 day visit the students were taken to various tourist places in Kolkata. The Youth Wing of Purvanchal Kalyan Ashram organised a fun - fiesta for them on 23rd followed by a cultural performance by the vanvasi students. On the last day i.e. 24th, the students were split into small groups of 2 -3 and were taken for lunch at homes of various volunteers of PKA in Kolkata.
